Hi,I have a ques. that while we are tanking mortis, there is a cloud ,which blocks skills and gives armor break,is there a pattern of the appearance of the cloud and what ways to avoid it?
Also if there are other tips for tanking kindly tell me.

The cloud will always appear centered on the person with agro. If the tank is tanking right, they will always have the agro, so it will always appear right on top of them. The trick is to have a feeling for the timing of the cloud (about every 12 seconds) and be prepared to move immediately. There is no way to avoid or doge it, you simply have to move (and faster is better). More important than knowing the timing for the cloud is knowing the timing for his ice breath as that is what kills most tanks.

Below is a guide that Goodmood (GamesShortCut) put together ages ago.

Well i have seen that video and honestly with just avoiding the breath it becomes pretty easy,to survive.
Also,i tried it out duo with a mage who kept track of souls, and i was the only 1 attacking mortis,so with my 1 hand base dmg. 800-893 and reds it took ages for it.Is it supposed to be that way with 1 hand?

1H takes awhile, especially if your attack speed is low.

What I've been doing is 3 man teams, with a 2h dk, my 1h dk, and 1 ranger for clearing the souls. My 1H dk usually burns out of blues before everyone else.

I've also done the 3 DK and 1 or 2 soul killers approach, and that works well too.

Also, if you get a star studded group, you can go for the full DPS method. With enough damage, everyone can attack Mortis and the only souls that die are the ones that the tank uses for HP Regen. I've done it with blues and purples and the kill is fast enough that there are only 400-800 souls by the time everything is done. The only catch is that the tank has to have enough DPS to keep the agro so that everyone doesn't have to chase down Mortis as he runs crazy through the room.

well the other person was a 3k gold staff wielder,so a few hits and aggro shifts.
So what should be the enough dps if i'm the only 1 on mortis?
My current is around 1300 DPI

    DPI? Or max damage?
I have about 4k DPS (1598-1869 damage, 1500 crit, 215% crit damage, 1.57 speed) and have no trouble keeping agro when using the same ess as everyone around me. On the rare occasion that there is someone who can steal agro from me, I ask them to down grade their essence, or up my own.

I was talking about DPI,mine is around 1300 with base 807-901 speed 1.19 crit. 1235 and crit. dmg 208%.And i was holding the aggro all the time as i was the only 1 attacking.

As I have been farming my butt off to get my DK stronger, I figured a good test would be to attempt to take on Mortis solo.

The plan seemed simple enough, stock up on some red ess, buy an armor/health buff and leap right in.

Killing the first incarnation was plenty easy enough as most of the knights dropped enough health orbs to not even get close to dying.

    Then came the second part.

Once again, standing toe to toe with Mortis was easy enough, but by the time I got him about halfway, the 1000 ghosts entered the circle and I was done.

Having been part of a team, I know that ghosts can come from all four corners, so is there some spot that I can drag him to where it might be possible to slow down the ghosts and still fight him?

I know that the easy solution would be to get a group to kill the ghosts, but from what I've read, the more in a group the stronger Mortis will get, which kind of defeats the purpose as I have a hard enough time causing dmg quickly.

Maybe I am simply not ready to take on the big bosses by myself, but I was quite proud of the fact that at least the dragon didn't kill me outright, so I feel like progress is being made.

Yes you can. What you will want to do is count every 6 hits from mortis and jump before his breath and take out a few ghosts and fight on their path as much as you can. Mighty wild swing will give you more hp and the ghosts will not attack you.

Also, knowing your stats, you are still about 600-800 damage short of being able to solo Mortis consistently.

In general, it is easier to tank Mortis in the top corner for two reasons. First is that most people feel that more ghosts spawn there. This may just be a matter of perception, so this is subjective. If it is true though, more ghosts means more HP regen. Second, and less subjectively, you have a better field of view. You can see the spawn points at the upper edge and can keep good track of your areas you can move left and right when the cloud forms. Also, when in a group, you have areas where you can observe your team so that you can keep Mortis facing in a direction so that his breath doesn't hit your team mates.

So that means I'm still stuck looking for that nice weapon.

A nice weapon is ok but you need the other items to back it up also...

Granted I'll still want/need the Warlord set even if I got the best OP weapon, but I currently have 63% armor, 54% crit, and 48% resist which ranks up there with players who have been playing a whole lot longer than I have.

I'm currently in the 930-1200 range for dmg with a somewhat ok weapon, so a super nice weapon like the one posted yesterday in the 2h thread would make such a huge difference even without the Warlord set.

Granted that one is super nice, and I don't expect to find one like that any time soon, but even a somewhat nice weapon with two or three good % increases would change my character overnight.

Honestly I got the best weapon from frosty winterland. It looked like a candy cane. It was a 1hd wand with 96% increase damage with 7,6% speed. I did not like the server I was on though ;-( but this Christmas maybe you can get one.

I've been farming hod hard the past few days and got 3 exo 2h swords, so as soon as another drops, I'll try crafting again.

I also managed to get all the hod parts for another ring of death, so as soon as I can find some people to farm mortis for those 10 frags, I'll add that. That will add another 30+ damage to my total. Just little steps until the Dragan event comes around again.

I wish you were on Agathon. I'd love to help an aspiring F2P 2H DK.
