    Hey folks,

I've been successfully PVP'ing, starting at lvl 45 from recruit to novice centurion now. The win ration was about 55-60%. Recently I started joining lots of matches with KOTO's and up, and I have just realised I stand no chance. The problem is catching the rangers/mages, which seem to just hit and run, and whenever im skilled/lucky enough to land a stun they just break the stun with nova/teleport/jump etc. with 4 sec immunity on top.

What would be the best strategy to go forward with this ? I seem to lose battle after battle now, they all just break stuns like crazy and shoot me from afar, this gets really boring and frustrating.

I am using 2h at the moment, mainly doing duels and 3v3.

    Cheers,

    Elve

You probably need really high armor and hp to survive as a 2H DK. 2H is more viable in 5v5 and 6v6 since you can respawn.

This may sound crazy but I think you need a PVP buddy that compliments your build. If you are going to stand and defend the base, your best bet is a SW companion that can work in conjunction with you. If you are going for a speed build to run the flag, a Ranger would be a better companion. If grouping isnt your thing, you are just going to need to slug it out slowly in 3v3 till you are level 40 fame.

Pvp as DK is reserved for those who either pay a large amount of money or spent a lot of time (years) grinding, or both. DK, currently, as it stands is the worst f2p pvp class. I did a detailed analysis on the balance of classes in the ranger section of the forum, under thread "why do rangers have the best of everything." Take a look if you get a chance.

The reason is pretty simple, because you need massive defense from gear and gems to survive multiple hits to even begin to deal any damage to ranged classes. That massive defense is difficult to achieve (while maintaining decent offense) for new/returning F2P dk. You only really start to deal damage after you exhausted ranged classes' stun breaks, which means you can expect to take numerous hits before you can start to deal decent damage (assuming ranged class player is competent). Each class got 2 stun breaks, 1 with short cooldown, 1 with medium to long cooldown. By the second cycle of stun breaks, meaning ranged classes have cooldown on their medium cd stun break, that's your window to unleash damage. A lot of 2h Dk don't survive until then (hell, a lot of 1h+shield F2P dk don't survive), unless... ofc they are well geared. The 2h DK that can 1 shot their opponent are exceptions because they are too well-geared/amazing 2h. Honestly, until you can exhaust their first cycle of 2 stun breaks, you're stuck with doing damage through jump, charge and occasional mighty wild spin. I also recommend using a shield unless your 2h is bloody f-ing amazing.

Long story short, without good (glyphed) gears and great gems, don't play DK in pvp, just make a ranger like everyone else and snipe with precision shots for easy kills. Mage without movement speed gems (ie. f2p) is decent, but you'll find ranger probably better with higher burst damage and survival. I don't recommend dwarf for pvp unless you enjoy flag running in 5v5.

If you play PvE the most, there is no better class than the DK. DK is hands down the king of PvE with 2h. All other classes are just support classes to the DK in comparison (PvE). If you're a DSO addict and don't mind spending massive money and time on this game, heavy P2P DK is godly because with a good shield they are almost unkillable, certainly the best of the best in pvp. If you enjoy farming and killing noobs/f2p, make a semi-p2p mage (best class for this noob farming) to farm the honor points and raise in ranking on your server.

Me? I main as a DK for PvE ( I got flag bearer and can't be bothered to get it higher until they raise the pvp level cap); and have a ranger on the side for the lolz and pvp.

dk i good for pvp and i'll tell you how get there.

    1. farm good gear
    2. put a lot of GoP
    3. farm good gems
    4. put skil on furious battle cry
    5. use bloody wild swing on duel
    6. play with shield

    never used pot in pvp
    never premium or andermants bought
    total f2p

i start with duel because i want to get lower rank players

you think they are runing? well you can be even bigger ah so you can hit furious battle cry run towards him/her bloody wild swing and run away, trie to dodge hits, let them pursuit you so you can suprise them...or if you have good run speed you pursuit them but be carful and run zig-zag trie to anticipate their next move

here are some of my pvp so you can see how dk is weak for pvp XD

    https://board-en.drakensang.com/threads/some-of-my-pvp.60923/

dude you are always bsing on dk but you have DK FLAG BERER?!?!?! how so do you have that pvp rank with that chity class??? are you p2w? show us your stats!!!
I play for 11 moths and i kick kaboose of 99% of my f2p friends who play 2-2,5 yeas? why? becaus i am not on forum or atruim and whining about everyfrikingthing

SHOW US YOUR STATS AND TELL US ARE YOU F2P OF P2W!

My points exactly. Glad you agree. Depends on how much you farmed, you can certainly approach P2P. P2P advantage over F2p are just gear (glyph) and gems.

I hope you understand that I never meant DK as a weak class, but rather F2P DK as weak in comparison.
I hope you showed your losses as well as wins. A picture of your total wins/losses would probably be better. But nevertheless, congratz.

That would depend on how much you farmed during those 11 month and how much your friends farmed during those 2-2.5 years. Your friends' skills also play a factor in pvp vs you. I'm not whining, I'm perfectly content with the current balance of the game. I'm helping the OP by making a wiser class selection so he/she will not quit the game from the frustration of losing all the time.

Not exactly sure how my stats will prove a point. Do please elaborate on what you meant by F2P of P2W, I have no idea what that means.

Overall, it is still better to recommend the OP to make a ranger for f2p pvp. I certainly don't recommend the OP to grind 11 months just to be on par with other F2P classes. With F2P ranger, you can get into the pvp action right away and do reasonably well without farming all that glyph and gems (certainly better than his DK).

If you're capable of killing your opponents with nothing but furious battle cry (for the +40 rage) and bloody & mighty wild spin alone, I'd say you're pretty well geared compared to the opponents you kill.

It's not arguing, I'm being objective in helping the OP by making realistic helpful suggestions.

    Edit:
Telling someone who is on the verge of quitting the game (based on what he said in his other threads) to grind for another 11 months (or however long it takes depending on how much he plays per day), is not what I consider as realistic. Whereas with a ranger class, he can jump into the PvP action and do reasonably well, but most importantly have some fun.

So because of "your" personal belief that the ranger is the best class irregardless of skill level, time spent farming, money spent, and the random gear drop factor, your best advice is that the original poster should simply abandon his lvl45 novice centurion DK and start over with a ranger?

Let's apply some simple logic, a syllogism.

Premise #1: he said F2P DK is the weakest class in PvP.
Premise #2: he said P2W DK is the strongest class in PvP.
Premise #3: he has a Flag Bearer DK.
    --------------------------------------------------------------
    Conclusion: He is P2W.

If he does indeed have a Flag Bearer DK and, going to the absurd, didn't only acquire that title through losses, then he cannot say he is F2P.
No, I don't mean the comments addressed to the OP. I mean post #6 where you took Mario_Boss's post and dissected it because he didn't say exactly what you have. You said something, then he gave a different reply which you attacked. Now don't tell me that's not arguing :p.

Now let's not turn this thread into another F2P vs. P2W; we have plenty, and one of them is currently active.

  11. ScientiaPotestasEst

    ScientiaPotestasEst Someday Author

I did not say that, if you read what I wrote. Ranger is the best F2P class for pvp because you can jump into PvP battles without spending vast amount of time farming/buying glyph and gems. You should also note that the OP made numerous posts about his dissatisfaction with DK and stun breaks, dying in 1-2 shots, etc (all of which indicates he is in the F2P category and undergeared). Hence, best advice for him is to make a Ranger and have some fun in PvP.

The following are the threads the OP made related to his character, for your reference:
    https://board-en.drakensang.com/threads/deleted-my-char-due-to-pvp.64529/
    https://board-en.drakensang.com/threads/stun-break-with-4-seconds-immunity-abuse.64507/#post-624952
    https://board-en.drakensang.com/threads/gimme-tips-on-how-to-pvp-with-dk.64506/#post-624959

Your syllogism is invalid and unsound.
Edit: your premises has nothing to do with the conclusion lol

Take a look at this site, it is a good educational tool on validity and soundness.
    http://www.iep.utm.edu/val-snd/

I dissected the post in order to respond to him while addressing the OP. Otherwise, it would be too confusing for the OP/or anyone else to read. Note how Mario targeted part of his response to my earlier reply to the OP.

There is a difference between replying and making a counter-argument and attacking a person. I hope you will recognize this.

    Really?

So you're suggestion of starting a Ranger to pvp would leave me or anyone to conclude that you are helping him advance his Dk how exactly?

He came here asking for help with his DK, and like a lot of threads you jumped in suggesting a switch to Ranger because they are so much better in pvp.

Did you take a second and consider offering tips on better gear or improving gear or adding gems or anything else? For someone who plays a DK it seems odd that you talk so much about the Ranger class with such authority.

I know that you hate to watch free to play f2p dk pictures how he smash other classes kaboose but if you open last picture you'll se my win/lose ratio...and one more thing. I was playing duel for fun and i had noob stats but then i decide to farm, started with w/l ratio at that moment 250/320 (i had picture somwhere but my thin nerves cost me 3 hdd)...
Yeah furius battle cry + blood swing... hit him few times so he will chase you than you can suprise him/her. Dude i used to kick kaboose of sw and ra even some running noob dk (i mean DUDE I AM DK TOO WE HAVE TO STOP AND FIGHT) and they use 3 pot per fight...
Am i running away from bird of ra? Ofc i am not that stupid to stand stil, i can anticipate most ra arrows same to sw magice missle or chain lightnings... thy can run but if they are runing i allways have my "potion" furious battle cry and dragon hide, put masive armor and hp so i go for exo...
O and one more thing to all dk "IF RA RELASE WOLFS USE THEM TO HEAL UP WITH MIGHTY WILD SWING"
And if you play against sw always have rage jump OR charge to get out of singularity... and if mage stand in singularty hide behind barel or put in middle of singularty dragon's fury and run away

Dk is great class and in most situations is op... he you kcso (keep calm and smash on)

O and @Morinphen did good math...p2w pay to win... give them money and they will help you win... or not if you meet me :cool:

    Reread

Did you not read my first reply on helpful tips with regards to stun breaks? or my third reply to your post along with the reference links about OP's situation? I don't think I think need to repeat myself over and over. Check out my other posts as well, I play both DK and RA.

You know you can take your own advice, you can help the OP by offering any advices I missed or you disagree with. Better yet, just redirect the OP to your questions on gears and etc (from your own threads that I and many others spent the time answering).

    @Mario,
F2P DK requires a lot of time and/or money to do well, to the point that one can argue approach P2P. Some punctuations to your post will make it much more readable.

just my 2 cents. I might be wrong, Im sure I am :) but I have a belief into the power (the best use) of individual classes.

If I were to have quick fun and develop character quickly, I would pick a mage (or dwarf), f2p or p2p does not really matter.
If I were to focus on PVP, and especially if I hated mages, I would pick a ranger, f2p or p2p.

But if I were to invest years into a game, to be patient, to have premium - it would be DK. so, to OP, the road of DK is hard, and it will take some time to develop, but once you are there, you will have lots of fun. DK is the most valuable class for PVE, you will decide when to go some big boss and you will always have team for that. And you will have the easiest end-game farming road.

just my 2 cents, not to argue with anyone. OP, good luck)

    First of all, *have.

Then, huh... so it was all milk & honey as long as I agreed with you, but now that I too have contradicted you and have shown a most basic, correct reasoning, you're getting hostile and are trying to shut me up just like you do with the others. And to top it all off, you proceed to end it on a most disgustingly condescending note. Negating that syllogism I presented only means the following two things: one - it is true; you're a (heavy?) P2W but don't wanna admit it, and as a panicked reaction, you chose to say it is not valid... just like that, without anything to back your statement up - even more so, you claim the premises and the conclusion aren't tied in meaning to one another; and two - whomever taught you Logic failed to make you get it (either they lacked the ability to teach or you just couldn't understand/learn it). I pity you. I mean, come on... it's high-school stuff. All of this just proves what we, the ones who dared say otherwise than you oh-so-mighty omniscient entity, have commented about you: you cannot accept the fact that not everyone has the exact same beliefs & opinions as yourself, so you deny everything and shove your ideas down everyone's throats on every occasion you get because nothing else is true and all must do as you preach. Dude, you've got issues. Some serious ones. Control/power freak much? At first you were OK, but now you've shown your true face: just another forum troll. Thank you and goodbye (P.S.: looking forward to that expansion or whatever it is that you said is gonna happen soon in some other game you play so you don't show your face around here anymore... maybe those people there need an all-knowing and always-right deity around, 'cause we most certainly do not... good luck).
You're kinda late :p. He's moved on to takin' on almost the entire forum populace by now. Oh, and I love the way you ended your post :D... show 'em who's wearing the pants!

If you want to play PvP on a Dk, the best place to start is at a low level. Farm heredur for gops regularly and until you find some decent leg items, get the witch hunter set. It's not too bad for low dks in pvp, sine it gies them a higher damage output and at the low levels when you are f2p you'll need it. One you get some gops stored up, put them in your weapon, and get dragan armour, it's good for defence. Try to get minimum x2 speed boots to give you a slight speed advantage on your opponent, focus your left hand side gear on offence, and right side of def. At low level when gops aren't all that easy to obtain in high numbers for f2p, exo items are easy to upgrade.

Once your low level starts to get strong and rank up, use the mentor bonus for your high level dk. If you want a low Lvl DK stats to base your goal on, just ask because I'm happy to share mine.
    Hope this helps!
