Yes, I've been level 50 for around 7 months only, tried every now and then, and I could hold my ground fairly well against some those high ranked players, I'm only an Ardent Centurion on my main toon and had given some Marshals very nice surprises in the 2 hours a month I play the arena lol, also, fooled around with my guildmates in open PvP and you DO have a chance, if you play smart.

As I said, it took me around 7 months to get to that, depends on how you manage your build and if you understand how the other classes work.

As for the twink issue, of course I'm a detractor, back in the day when me and my couple were complete newbies, we had a brutal amount of trouble to get out PvP daily quests done, thanks to the twinks, who then take pride on their titles, mounts and costumes, which were earned by killing unaware newcomers like us..., and sometimes lead us to beg for help to others or waste andermant to avoid PvP related daily quests at all, that's our case because we're stubborn, but some other people are easier to drop from a game due to frustration.

Funny though, a handful of those twinks (I have a ridiculously good memory), leveled up to 50 and I stumbled upon them in my short times in the arena, long story short, I mopped the floor with them. :D

If you are thinking about soloing, DK wins hands down. With the most defense and the ability to regen HP rather well, you can solo places that most other classes could only dream of. Personally, I have soloed every boss on every difficulty in this game except one and it will be an incredible feat if anyone ever manages to do it. It takes time and patience, but DKs are the most versatile class.

Okay, my plan is to reach level cap with my ranger first, and then make a new char (probably DK) and gain some wisdom with mentor bonus from my ranger, and make that DK to be my main char. Luckily, leveling isn't that hard in this game. That's probably the best from now, at least for me~ and of course make some friend in game so they can help me in an event or farming :p
Once they both reached max level, I'll play them alternately.
    Thanks guys ;)

Oh and about gems, is there any particular dungeon with bigger possibility/drop rate to loot gems?

Yeah, I'm working on that. I already made a DK to test it strength and so far it's good. I don't have to run around dodging boss' attack (although it's just crypt of king's boss lv 15 lol).
thanks for your input, I appreciate it :)

mentor bonus for wisdom work based on which character have the highest wisdom and not xp level. You should start playing the DK right away maybe just login and do the dailies and collect the daily login bonus only but still you should start working on wisdom bonus right away.

I personally currently have 2 chars, 1 main SW and a second SM.I login with steam mechanic and do the daily quest "complete 2 quest" and its not the one giving wisdom , i reshuffle(i started buying premium a month ago for this ) i do the quest for that witch lady out side grotto. After completion of the daily on SM then refresh the instance once (by teleporting to town) to refresh and then this transfers the wisdom bonus to my main and then i do the daily on main and play normally.

    Very right!
Don't get me wrong, there are lv50s who'll beat you to a pulp - but those are developed characters, not lazy twinks who can't win without an unfair advantage. But compared to the bad low-level PvP, it's better.
Yes, but those people earned their PvP prowess... not like the twinks who wait for others to do the dirty work so they can reap the spoils. Purposely staying under-leveled just to PvP seems silly to me.
Now you got me curious. Balor, I suppose?
As ekant1992 said, if you only want to level up the Ranger to use it as a Wisdom Mentor, keep in mind that the XP level does not matter - the Wisdom level does (i.e. you could have a lv10 character Wisdom Mentor for a lv50, if the lv50 has less Wisdom than the other), so if you want to main the DK, you can start right away and only use the other for the daily challenge (if it's PvP, 5v5s or 6v6s will get it done quick, even if you don't do much - the one requiring you to defeat 15 players / if it's the win 2 battles, well... good luck not getting matched up against twinks).

As for leveling, it's not hard until you get to 40+. Up to 45 it's s bit iffy, then up to 50 it's gonna be quite challenging if your only focus in gaining XP. In any case & once again, good luck!

About the last thing... nope, not really. One could say that maps with multiple bosses and mini-bosses would have a higher chance, but there's no place to specifically have increased gem drops. On the bright side, you could drop (as of some time ago) gems up to Radiant (6th tier) at best, as far as chances go (the higher the tier, the smaller the probability, I guess). Make sure to keep the daily login streak active, as you get a gem bag with it (day 5+). Also, gems could drop from Mystic Cubes if you have Premium... but then some say it's wiser to wait for lv50, then open cubes so in the tiny chance you get a unique or a really good item, it will be lv50.

    Khalys would be my guess.

I have found Gorga normal to be a good place to find gems. DSO has slowed down farming a bit, but if you can kill it quickly it is worth it in my opinion.

I agree with the others, start your alt character now. Just do the daily quest and once your main character reaches 50, you'll have a nice start with your newer DK.

    Aaaah, got it!
I'll use my DK (lv 17 atm) just to collect wisdom from daily quest while I levels my ranger to 50, because a kind stranger in-game told me if I have at least one lv 50 char in an account, there will be a new map opened (cajun? cadun? the stranded island on the top right corner of the map). He said it's the best place to farming (is that true?). Is that the same as Parallel World that I read about?

I added some of "unbeatable" twinks to my buddy list so I can see if they're on/off :p
Sometimes I beg them to give me one free kill... Really sad....
and about mystic cubes, Hmm, I'll make sure about my char before I go premium. Noted.

Yeah, gorga normal and temple sector are my usual places to farm. But still I rarely found gems. Mostly blue items and purple one or two. Maybe it's just my luck....

Yes, once you get 1 character to lvl 50, you open up the parallel worlds. Yes, they are the best places to farm everything.

What is your character name / server ?

Hmm interesting, can I go solo in that map?

    Jbauer (ranger) server Tegan.

There are 6 maps in the parallel worlds. Some are tougher than others. Some are better than others. All are far better than any regular map.

Depending on how strong you are when you get to the pw, you may or may not be able to solo any of the maps. The quests take a bit of time so opening all 6 should be your focus once you get there.

The really nice part is map 3 (stonekeep) is the single best map for getting gold/gops fast. So you'll get a chance to upgrade a little bit at a time.

I'm also on tegan and will keep an eye out for you (I'll send an in game message when I see you online).

Nah, Balor is easy. His HP doesn't scale, meaning that it takes 4-5 times longer to solo him, but he is so predictable. Without having to worry about holding agro, it is just a matter of timing and time. On the other hand, Khalys III is near impossible to solo due to the massive amount of damage she does with her missiles from the clones. I can survive the first wave with Dragon Hide, but it has a 60 second cool down, but Khalys' cycle is about 45 seconds total. Makes it next to impossible. Maybe with the high enough crit and the cool down skill for Rage Attack (or maybe a ton of the cool down gems), but otherwise, I don't see it happening. (Please note, for testing purposes, I did attempt it while her clones were bugged in the last release and it was easy.)

I'm currently working on my alt DK (lvl 46), which has the same name I use in the forums, if you guys need anything you can add me as well, I'd be happy to help in what I can.

Ah, yes... forgot about her. Why? Because I'm too lazy to start Q5 xD. OK, let's not hijack this thread, haha.

Fwiw, I personally find fatal heredur much easier solo with my dwarf as opposed to with my dk (my dk has the better gems, 5 slots on everything, and a better weapon, but my dwarf has the classic warlord + sparks + dragonsilver setup). I think fatal grimmag, heredur, and possibly bearach and arachna are easier to solo with a dwarf.

You can play without pvp rank pvp easily, in the new pvp (almost one year old new pvp xd) the rank doesn't matter that much, it just shows how much you had been in pvp
New pvp era for me is the one from the lortac lvl 50 expansion. Before that it was more balanced it was near perfect. If you are playing from the USA, just play on Tegan, low latency, low player count so more server stability :D - We struggle a lot on grimmag - like every release :D

Whoa what are you gonna do to me  lol
Maybe I will not online for this week, because I lent my laptop to my brother for his thesis (just when I have a free time! *sigh). So I'll take a hiatus for a while.
Also, thanks for your information :)

    @EhtovK Okay I'll contact u if I need any help, thanks :D

    Ooh, I see...
Yeah, that was my reason for choosing Tegan. I played in Grimmag when I play this game for the first time. But it was too much for my laptop.... That's why I play in Tegan till now.

When you reach level 50, No. you wouldn't have a chance against other level 50 high ranked players in PvP. You will have to work your character many months to get in par with the rest of the gang.

However, that doesn't mean you wouldn't be able to PvP sooner.
I say start with Duels. Duels will try to match you mostly with similar opponents.
You may once in a while get a strong opponent, but that would be an exception but not the norm.

Once you are comfortable with Duels then go for 5v5 matches. The good thing about 5v5 is that when you die, you can re-spawn and get right back into the fight.

3v3 would be the hardest without good equipment.

As bLaind said, you have a much better chance to stand your ground as a player below level 45. If you reach 45 and beyond, then you will be crushed.

Also, if you are thinking of restarting, I would advice against it. Because it doesn't really make sense to start a new character just to make yourself stronger. You can do it at any level and specially at level 50, since you have access to the highest level gear, it is much easier to make your character stronger as a level 50 player than a lower level player.

Someone said PvP rank does not matter. Yes, rank itself does not matter. But, the rank means how much time the player has done PvP for and they don't just stand still. They farm and get stronger. And usually by looking at the PvP rank you can guess how strong the player is, but there are exceptions of course. But that is not the norm.

@cdeepal thanks for your advice on PvP. Well noted. :)
I always register for duel, because in Tegan its pretty hard to find players for 3v3 or 5v5. The problem is too many twinks. Really, they're everywhere. Especially level 10-20.

Actually, I concerned about my currently main char , ranger lv 41. After I digging around this forum, DK has great defense. I always like tank classes (because I prefer solo than group for some technical reasons). At first, I gave up on DK in this game but completely had no idea how build this class (being a melee while all monsters are aggressive, it was too hard) so I changed my mind and play with ranger. But for now I will try to keep playing my ranger while using my DK just to collects wisdom from daily quest. Idk, maybe later I'll finds ranger is the best for me, or maybe even both :D

Nothing wrong with building a ranger or sw or sm. However, thanks to @_Baragain_ we all have the blue print for building a DK.

    1 Handed tank mode:

    2 Handed solo mode:

I'll gently nudge him again soon to get his thoughts on non set gear choices.
